Cosine Health Strategies designed, developed and implemented a Trauma-Sensitive Assessment Simulation utilizing a standardized patient.
The initial “trigger” video introduces participants to the topic of Trauma-Sensitive Care and to the standardized patient with whom learners will interact. Participants will  learn the fundamentals and principles of performing a therapeutic and empathic assessment with a patient who has experienced trauma.
Simulation Objectives:
• How to notice, ask, and talk about trauma in a sensitive way
• How to guide a patient through the recognition of their trauma
• Awareness of the impact of trauma not only on mental health but with physical health and chronic conditions
• Normalizing symptoms while conveying an understanding that trauma is painful, but recovery is possible
